Norco was also a pioneer in mountain biking, designing its first mountain bike models in 1984 when the style and sport were in their infancy. It was one of the first manufacturers in North America, for example, to introduce 10 speed road bikes - that was in 1975. It also led the way in other styles of bike. The company's first factory team sponsorship happened 1981 when the Factory BMX Team was formed. This support of BMX continued, with them being part of the developing BMX story. In the early 1970s, for example, it embraced the emerging BMX style of bike, introducing the first ever full suspension version to the Canadian market in 1973. Throughout its more than 50 year history it has had a number of firsts, and has been responsible for various innovations. It is still headquartered there in the city of Port Coquitlam. The company was founded in British Columbia, Canada in 1964. They are a well-known name in the world of cycling because of this range and because of their active involvement, from grassroots cycling up to the top levels of the sport. Today the range that they offer is extensive and includes road, City, Mountain, BMX and street bikes.
